Here are some interesting facts about hearing loss: Millions and millions and millions of people have hearing loss. Of all those millions, only 20 percent do anything about it. And of those 20 percent, most wait around 10 years before they get help.
Now, experts are questioning not only why people ignore hearing loss, but also why people wait so long from acknowledging hearing loss to visiting a hearing healthcare specialist or audiologist. With science showing that untreated hearing loss increases the risk of dementia (among other issues), and that treating hearing loss early is something people can do to help lower that risk, isn’t it wise to address it before related conditions can take hold?
